Rosalind Crisp

Rosalind Crisp will share practical tools for dancers to compose in real time from and with the materiality of their own bodies. The body is prepared by undoing tension and unquestioned patterns. Breath, weight and sensation are prioritised.

In a responsive dialogue with the proprioceptive feedback from the body and rigorous compositional parameters, the dancer is given agency to guide herself.

Structures for watching bring attention to the continual emergence of the dance in a porous relationship with another dancer-witness.

I participated in Rosalind’s workshops during Choreodrome 2009 and later in Paris. Those few days were a source of nourishment and have influenced both my dancing and my creative practice ever since. I’m delighted Groundwork are able to bring Rosalind to Cardiff, selfishly so I can feed myself again, and more generously so other people can taste this brilliant work.
