CDF15 International connections

The festivals we like the most are the ones that bring artists together from different places. We wanted that to be part of the Cardiff Dance Festival mix. Dance also has very porous borders. Performers in one company can come from very different places. Successful choreographers can travel the world making work.

Within our programme there are a variety of international angles. We thought you might be interested in some of the places and connections.

—The team that made Dawns Ysbrydion / Ghost Dance hail from Wales and Canada. It is a rich collaboration, rooted in the culture of both nations.

—Igor and Moreno are from Sardinia and the Basque Country. They are based in London (a global hub for dance makers).

—The three pieces being performed by National Dance Company Wales have all been created by European choreographers. The company's dancers come from France, Italy, Spain and the UK.

—Dana Michel is from Montréal in Québec.

—Matteo Fargion is Italian. He was based in Brussels for many years and now lives in London.

—Jan Martens is from Belgium and lives in Brussels.

Their perspectives give our festival great richness. They bring their worlds to ours.
