• Daina Ashbee

We're thrilled that Daina Ashbee is going to be joining us for a week-long residency at Chapter as part of this year's festival.

Daina is an artist, performer and choreographer based in Montréal. She is known for her radical works at the edge of dance and performance, and is widely regarded as one of the most promising choreographers of her generation.

In 2016, at the young age of 26, Daina picked-up two significant awards for her work, winning both the Prix du CALQ for Best Choreography for her choreographic installation When the Ice Melts, Will We Drink the Water?, and the Prix Découverte de la danse for Unrelated, her first choreography.

The recognition Daina has achieved has seen her work invited across North America and to many prestigious European festivals. In Montréal, she is artist-in-residence at Agora de la danse and the associate artist of Centre de Création O Vertigo (CCOV).

Daina is currently working on two new productions that will premiere in 2020 and will spend time developing one of these whilst she is with us in Cardiff.
